The Israel Defense Forces cleared military personnel of criminal wrongdoing regarding the April 2024 strike on a World Central Kitchen convoy in Gaza that killed seven humanitarian workers, including Australian Zomi Frankcom. The military concluded that serious failures caused soldiers to falsely identify a Hamas fighter in the convoy, though commanders' decisions did not amount to criminal misconduct. The announcements were part of five simultaneous investigations released on Wednesday, which also included a recommendation for a criminal probe into the January 2024 killing of five-year-old Hind Rajab. Additionally, the IDF recommended a criminal investigation into a March 2025 attack on a paramedic convoy in Tel al-Sultan that killed 15 people and resulted in bodies being buried in a shallow mass grave. Separate inquiries into the killings of Médecins Sans Frontières staff in late 2023 and early 2024 also cleared military personnel of criminal wrongdoing.
