ISRO Employees Write to Chairman Seeking Clarity on Privatisation

Nine associations representing thousands of ISRO employees have written to ISRO chairman and Department of Space secretary V Narayanan to seek official clarification on the government's space privatisation policy. The letter, dated September 4, follows statements by IN-SPACe chairman Pawan Kumar Goenka indicating that ISRO will eventually stop manufacturing launch vehicles, shifting those functions to the private sector or public sector undertakings. Employee bodies from multiple centres, including the ISRO Staff Association and SHAR Employees Association, expressed concern over the future role of the agency, the status of serving employees, and future public recruitment.
