The Italian government has extended its tax cut on diesel fuel until Wednesday to mitigate the impact of rising oil prices. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s administration implemented the measure as global energy costs climb due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The ministries of finance and energy formalised the extension through a decree signed last Thursday. This follows a previous reduction of €0.17 per liter introduced in July and extended earlier in August. The government has not provided details on further extensions beyond the current deadline.
