External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar described Pakistan as a serial practitioner of terrorism during his address at the United Nations General Assembly. He stated that there must be no dilution of India's zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and asserted India's right to defend itself will be exercised. Jaishankar accused Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of misrepresenting facts and invoking arguments to normalise terrorism and claim immunity from its consequences. He emphasized that friendship and goodwill cannot coexist with terrorism and called for exposing and countering the financial aspects of terror. Jaishankar also urged resolution of conflicts in West Asia and Ukraine, warning that war's effects are felt globally and penalise innocent countries.
