Jaishankar Meets Vladimir Putin in Moscow Ahead of BRICS Summit

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow on August 24, 2026, to discuss bilateral relations and global developments. The visit precedes President Putin's scheduled trip to New Delhi for the BRICS leaders summit, which is set to take place on September 12-13. During his two-day visit, Mr. Jaishankar also held talks with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov regarding the expansion of trade and economic cooperation. The External Affairs Ministry confirmed that Mr. Jaishankar is also expected to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to review regional issues, including the situation in Ukraine and West Asia.
