Japanese Airmen Praise Indian Yoga, Curry During Veer Guardian 2026 Drills in Jodhpur

· World · Hindustan Times, ANI

Japanese airmen from the Japan Air Self-Defense Force praised Indian Air Force personnel as 'approachable' during the bilateral combat exercise Veer Guardian 2026 held in Jodhpur. The exercise, which began on September 8, 2026, involves F-2 fighter jets and 110 JASDF members training alongside IAF units at Air Force Station Jodhpur and will continue until September 22. The Japanese contingent reported steadily improving skills through training with Indian fighter aircraft not present in their own inventory. They highlighted yoga as a memorable experience, with one airman noting it was their first time practicing it in India despite initial difficulty with poses. Regarding food, they described Indian curry as 'super delicious' and distinct from expectations. The drills include joint air defence exercises aimed at enhancing interoperability between the two forces.

Why it matters

The positive interaction between Indian and Japanese military personnel strengthens defence cooperation and mutual understanding, which is strategically significant amid growing regional security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific. Such exchanges enhance interoperability and pave the way for deeper bilateral ties between India and Japan.
