GMO Internet Group announced it will compensate users for losses on its foreign exchange trading service and distribute 5,000 yen, equivalent to $32, as a gesture of good faith. The attacks followed widespread hacking attempts exploiting critical vulnerabilities in the PHP programming language used across global web infrastructure. GMO shares slumped nearly 14% to a four-month low following the incident, closing at a market value of $2.6 billion. In response, the Japanese government announced plans to establish an AI-driven simulation team to identify technology system weaknesses.
