Kavita Kumari, a widow from Soso village in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district, ran a 1,600-metre trial run barefoot in a saree to prepare for an upcoming Home Guard recruitment physical test. Kumari participated in the free trial on October 4 at Sidhu Kanhu Stadium, an event organised by the Ankit Runner Academy to help candidates familiarise themselves with the ground conditions. Despite feeling uncomfortable surrounded by other candidates in tracksuits and sports gear, she completed the run in eight minutes, earning an 'Excellent' grade. The actual physical test for the Home Guard recruitment is scheduled to be held at the same stadium from October 24 to November 5. Kumari stated that securing the job could significantly change her fortunes.
