Jio And NSE IPOs Face Scrutiny Over Listing-Day Gains

· Business · Economic Times, LiveMint

As the Securities and Exchange Board of India clears mega initial public offerings for Jio Platforms and the National Stock Exchange, market experts are examining historical data to evaluate whether marquee issues deliver strong listing-day gains. The proposed NSE public offer is estimated at around ₹30,000 crore after the exchange revived its draft prospectus process following years of regulatory scrutiny. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries' digital and telecom arm Jio Platforms is targeting an IPO of roughly $4 billion, or ₹37,800 crore, by late October or early November. Jio plans to issue up to 270 million fresh equity shares representing approximately 2.9% of its post-IPO capital. If completed at estimated sizes, both offerings would surpass Hyundai Motor India's ₹27,858.75-crore issue to rank among the largest public offerings in the country.

Why it matters

The upcoming mega IPOs of Jio and NSE represent landmark capital market events that will test investor appetite and institutional demand for oversized public issues.
