Jio IPO has lenders, brokerages pushing retail participation with loans, marketing reach out
· Business · LiveMint, Indian Express
Jio Platforms raised ₹8,110 crore from anchor investors including Life Insurance Corp., BlackRock, Fidelity, Capital Group and Allianz, plus sovereign wealth funds from Abu Dhabi, Singapore, Qatar and Norway, ahead of its retail IPO. The ₹10,500 crore retail portion of the ₹30,213-crore offer opened for subscription on Wednesday and closed on Friday. Brokerages and non-banking financial companies, including SBI Securities and Jio Financial Services, are advertising short-term loans to help investors participate. The broader Nifty 50 is down more than 10% in 2026, making strong retail participation important for a successful listing pop.
Why it matters
Retail investors, particularly those using short-term financing, are being actively targeted to participate in India's largest IPO, which could impact market sentiment and listing performance.
