Jio IPO subscription heads for full mark as QIBs lead demand
· Business · Indian Express, LiveMint
Jio Platforms' IPO is heading for full subscription with qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) dominating demand. As of 12 noon IST on October 21, the overall issue was subscribed 0.75 times, while the QIB portion received bids worth 2.03 times the allocated shares. Retail investors subscribed only 0.25 times and the employee quota 0.57 times, indicating institutional participation far outpaced individual and employee interest. The issue, expected to raise around Rs 30,000 crore, marks one of India's largest public offerings. Jio Platforms, the telecom and digital services arm of Reliance Industries, continues to attract significant market attention.
Why it matters
Retail investors and eligible employees are receiving a disproportionately small share of the issue, potentially limiting broader public participation in what is among the country's largest public offerings.
