Jio Platforms Ranks Fifth Globally After Public Listing
· Business · Economic Times, LiveMint
Jio Platforms has become the fifth-largest telecom company globally after its public listing on Indian bourses, achieving a market capitalisation of $137.3 billion (₹13.1 lakh crore). This valuation places it ahead of Germany's Deutsche Telekom, which has a market cap of $135.5 billion. China Mobile leads the global rankings, followed by Verizon and T-Mobile US. Jio's high valuation is attributed to its advanced pure-play 4G and 5G networks and proprietary digital platforms, distinguishing it from global giants with legacy 2G and 3G infrastructure. The company's price-earnings multiple is 43.5 based on its FY26 net profit, comparable to Bharti Airtel's 45.6.
Why it matters
Jio's ascent into the top five global telcos highlights India's growing influence in the digital and telecommunications sector. This achievement reflects the success of its advanced network infrastructure and digital offerings, potentially setting new benchmarks for the industry.
