· World · ABC News (AU), Billboard, ABC News

A Las Vegas jury has found Duane 'Keffe D' Davis guilty of murder in the 1996 drive-by shooting of hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur. The 63-year-old former gang leader was charged with murder using a deadly weapon after prosecutors presented evidence from his own media appearances and memoir. Shakur was killed at a red light in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, following a confrontation at a local casino. Although Davis did not pull the trigger, Nevada law allowed for his conviction as the mastermind behind the attack. The trial, which began on August 17, concluded after the jury deliberated for less than three hours.

Why it matters

The verdict closes a nearly 30-year-old cold case involving one of the most influential figures in hip-hop history.
