The Central government has notified the appointment of eight new chief justices across various high courts, naming Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal as the head of the Rajasthan High Court. Justice Agrawal, currently a judge at the Chhattisgarh High Court, was recommended for the post by the Supreme Court collegium. This appointment follows allegations by Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta, who accused acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma of corruption and misuse of power. While the move provides a regular chief justice to Rajasthan after a year of vacancy, Justice Mehta's demand to transfer Justice Sharma out of the state remains unanswered. Other appointments include Justice V Kameswar Rao for Patna and Justice Ravindra V Ghuge for Calcutta high courts.
