Kanpur police have arrested 32-year-old Subrat for allegedly masterminding the murder of his father, pharmaceutical businessman Vineet Minocha. Investigators found that Subrat hired two men to kill his father and subsequently attempted to frame his wife, Shalu, for the crime. Police had initially arrested the daughter-in-law and two accomplices, but have now decided to re-verify her role following Subrat's confession. The victim was found stabbed 26 times in his Kanpur residence on September 6.
