Karnataka Cancels 16 Pharmacy Licences Over Spurious Drug Probe

The Karnataka Food Safety and Drugs Administration (FSDA) has cancelled 16 pharmacy licences and suspended eight others, including the Pfizer depot in Nelamangala, following an investigation into a drug-repackaging racket. The action follows the discovery of an unlicenced operation in Bidadi on August 18, where authorities seized spurious drugs and machinery worth ₹5.05 crore. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by IPS officer C. Vamsi Krishna is currently investigating the network. Health Minister U.T. Khader stated that the suspensions were issued due to a lack of cooperation with the ongoing probe.
