Karnataka Extends Gruha Jyothi Survey Deadline To September 30

The Karnataka government has extended the deadline for the door-to-door survey of Gruha Jyothi scheme beneficiaries by a month to September 30. The review survey began on July 1, 2026, with an initial deadline of August 31. Across eight districts under BESCOM jurisdiction, there were 68.86 lakh beneficiaries as of May 2026, of which 46.7 lakh had been surveyed by August 31. BESCOM Managing Director N. Shivashankara urged remaining beneficiaries to cooperate with meter readers during house visits starting September 1. BESCOM officials noted that apartment residents in Bengaluru have shown low cooperation, prompting guidelines for locked and vacant premises.

The extension gives millions of electricity subsidy beneficiaries additional time to complete mandatory verification and avoid disruptions to scheme benefits.
