Karnataka Government Forms SIT to Probe Fake Medicine Network

The Karnataka government is constituting a special investigation team (SIT) to dismantle a network manufacturing and distributing counterfeit medicines. Health minister U T Khader announced the move after authorities discovered a packaging unit at a farmhouse near C K Thandya village in Bengaluru South. Investigators found evidence of counterfeit branding on products, including medicines intended for intensive care units. Police have detained one individual, Prabhudev, while the farmhouse tenant, identified as Prashanth, is believed to be in Dubai. The investigation is expanding to examine potential links in Himachal Pradesh and Telangana.
