Karnataka Government Hikes Nandini Milk Prices By ₹8 Per Litre
· India · The Hindu, India Today, Hindustan Times
The Karnataka government has approved an ₹8 per litre price increase for Nandini milk, effective following a cabinet decision on October 29. Of the total hike, ₹7 will be distributed to dairy farmers, while the remaining ₹1 will go to the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF). The government had previously deferred this decision due to the election code of conduct enforced during the recent Legislative Council polls. Farmers had demanded the price increase to offset rising input costs and the impact of drought in the state. Local hotels are expected to adjust their prices in response to the increased cost of milk.
Why it matters
The price hike directly increases daily expenses for Karnataka households and is expected to trigger a rise in prices for dairy-based products and services across the state.
