· India · Indian Express, India Today

The Karnataka government has relieved Dr. Ankita R. Yaragal from her position as a medical officer at the Namma Clinic in Bagalkot following allegations of salary fraud. Dr. Yaragal, the niece of Bagalkot MLA Umesh Meti, was reportedly drawing a monthly salary of ₹75,000 while simultaneously pursuing an MD course at a private medical college. Local activist Raju Naik alleged that the doctor never attended the clinic and that her attendance records were falsified while nurses managed the facility. Her father, District Health Officer Dr. Rajkumar Yaragal, stated that he did not release her salary after assuming his current role. The district administration has launched an inquiry into the matter, though neither the MLA nor Dr. Ankita have issued a public comment.
