Karnataka High Court Quashes Case Against Suraj Revanna

The Karnataka High Court has set aside a sessions court order that had named JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna as an accused in a 2019 attempt to murder and rioting case. Justice M Nagaprasanna ruled that the lower court erred by relying on inconsistent witness statements to add Revanna as an accused under Section 319 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The case originated from a 2019 complaint by a BJP worker alleging that Revanna and others threatened individuals for switching political parties in Nambihalli village. While Revanna was named in the initial FIR, he was excluded from the police chargesheet. The trial court had previously framed charges against 13 other individuals in the matter.
