Karnataka High Court Refuses To Halt Bengaluru Safe Footpath Campaign

The Karnataka High Court has refused to stay the Greater Bengaluru Authority's Safe Footpath Campaign, observing that pedestrians must have adequate space to walk. A bench comprising Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice K S Hemalekha heard a Public Interest Litigation filed by urban strategist R Rajgopalan, who argued the campaign was executed incoherently. Additionally, the bench issued notice to the state government and the GBA regarding the implementation of the Street Vendors Act, 2014, directing them to file a status report within four weeks.
