Karnataka Minister Orders Action Against Industries for Discharging Effluent into Bhima River

Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Ramalinga Reddy directed the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board to take immediate and stringent action against industries in the Kadechur-Badiyal industrial area of Yadgir district. The order follows reports of untreated industrial effluents being discharged into the Bhima River, which the Minister said poses risks to public health, livestock, and the environment. Officials were instructed to inspect the industries, collect and test wastewater samples, and initiate strict legal action against violators. The Minister also directed the suspension of the official responsible for the lapse and ordered an inquiry into the matter. Authorities were required to submit a compliance report and implement measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
