Karnataka to Serve 43.8 Lakh Voters with Notices Over ‘Logical Discrepancies’

The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka announced that notices will be served to 43.8 lakh voters under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme. More than 20.35 lakh people are flagged for logical discrepancies, while 23.45 lakh lack their own or their parents’ details in the 2002 electoral roll. The discrepancies fall into nine categories, ranging from age gaps between parent and child to spelling variations in names. Notices will be mailed by Block Level Officers and hearings will be conducted by ERO or AERO officers. Bengaluru alone will receive 24.05 lakh of these notices.
