Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi launched the registration portal for the fifth edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam, scheduled from November 28 to December 12, 2026 in Varanasi under the theme 'Thirukkural Payilvom – Thirukkural Abhyas Karen'. The event aims to celebrate and strengthen civilizational bonds between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, two ancient seats of learning, in line with the government's 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' slogan. Around 1,400 participants from Tamil Nadu, organised into seven groups of 200 each, will undertake an eight-day journey comprising four days of travel and four days of visits and structured programmes across Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya. The programme will feature cultural, academic, domain-specific, and spiritual engagements, with a focus on bringing the ethical and moral wisdom of the classical Tamil text Thirukkural to modern youth and learners nationwide.

Why it matters

The event concretely affects approximately 1,400 Tamil Nadu participants who will travel to Uttar Pradesh for an eight-day cultural and academic immersion, while also promoting the timeless ethical wisdom of the Thirukkural to a new generation of Indian learners across the country.
