The Swiss Confederation President Guy Parmelin was served Kashmiri cuisine at a banquet held in his honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Monday. The menu included Kimb chaat, a Jammu specialty made from boiled taro root, sweet potatoes and rice flour crispies, and Shufta, a sweetened mix of dates, cashew nuts and raisins garnished with poppy seeds for dessert. Other dishes featured Ladakhi specialities such as Za Thuk, a nourishing wild nettle soup with winter peas, and Labo-Nat-Tsonma, a salad made from local cheese, dried apples, walnuts and honey. The banquet also included Kashmiri main courses like chaman kaliya, a cottage cheese dish with turmeric and fennel, and Dum Oluv, deep-fried whole potato cooked in Kashmiri red chilli, dried ginger and fennel powder. The visit marks the three-day official trip of the Swiss President to India, highlighting cultural exchange through cuisine.
