Katie Zacharia Holds First White House Press Briefing Ahead of Midterms
· World · NBC News, The Independent
Newly appointed White House press secretary Katie Zacharia held her first press briefing on Tuesday, concluding the session after less than 15 minutes. Zacharia took questions from only three reporters representing conservative outlets including Breitbart, Fox News, and the Daily Mail. During the briefing, she confirmed that the administration has asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, to resign following misconduct allegations. Zacharia replaces former press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who departed at the end of August ahead of the midterm elections. President Donald Trump recently expressed frustration that the administration was performing a poor job of public promotion despite running the country effectively.
