Kerala Bids Farewell to Brahmadathan, a Beloved Temple Elephant

Pallatt Brahmadathan, a 54-year-old elephant known for his role in Kerala's temple festivals, died on Sunday evening after being struck by lightning. The tusker had been a fixture in the state for 28 years, including participating in the Thrissur Pooram last year. His owner, Pallattu Rajesh, confirmed that the elephant had never attacked anyone during his time in the state. Scores of people gathered at the owner's residence in Erattupetta, Kottayam, to pay their final respects to the animal. A post-mortem examination was conducted on Monday to confirm the cause of death.
