· India · The Hindu, Indian Express

The Kerala Forest department has trapped a four-year-old female leopard at Maithri Nagar in Cherad, located within Akathethara panchayat in Palakkad. The animal was caught in a cage set up near a residential area following complaints from local residents regarding its repeated presence and the loss of pet dogs. Residents of Ward 3 had earlier approached the panchayat to address the threat, leading to the installation of street lights and intervention by forest authorities. The trapped leopard was shifted to the wildlife health centre at Dhoni for examination and monitoring by a forest veterinary team. Officials stated that the animal will remain under veterinary care while its health and behaviour are observed.
