Kerala Plan 2,000 Onam Markets to Stabilize Prices

The Keralam government has sanctioned ₹10.24 crore to operate 2,000 Onam markets during the festival season to ensure price stabilization. Krishi Bhavans will run 1,074 markets, while the Horticulture Products Development Corporation and the Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council Keralam will operate 766 and 160 markets respectively. The initiative aims to guarantee fair prices for farmers and provide quality fruits and vegetables to consumers at reasonable rates. This funding is part of a broader Market Intervention Support for Price Stabilisation scheme that previously allocated ₹20 crore in July 2026. Ahead of the festival, the Agriculture department also executed the 'Onathinorukkam Vilavinte Vismayam 2026' campaign, producing 2.52 lakh tonnes of vegetables across 22,137 hectares.
