Kerala Police Arrest Alleged Kingpin in ₹1.5 Crore Drug Bust

· India · The Hindu, NDTV

The Palakkad Town South police have arrested N. Abdul Saleem, the alleged mastermind behind a drug-trafficking network involving MDMA and cocaine worth approximately ₹1.5 crore. Saleem was taken into custody at his residence in Mannarkkad following the interrogation of four other suspects arrested in Olavakkode. The earlier arrests included Mohammed Azharudheen, Beefathima, Mohammed Nisih, and Shameer Ahmed, who were found with a variety of narcotics including LSD stamps, hybrid cannabis, and brown sugar. Police investigations revealed that Saleem allegedly sourced the drugs from Bengaluru and transported them to Coimbatore before moving them into Kerala using carriers. One of the suspects, a B.Tech graduate, reportedly used technical skills to facilitate secure communication for the group while their devices were in flight mode.

Why it matters

The arrest disrupts a significant inter-state drug supply chain and highlights the use of technical expertise by criminal networks to evade law enforcement surveillance.
