Kerala Police Probe Online Channels Over Onam Exam Paper Leaks

The Kerala General Education department has requested a criminal investigation into Instagram and YouTube channels accused of offering fake test-paper clues to students. These channels are targeting approximately 40 lakh students currently appearing for mid-term Onam examinations, which conclude on August 20. Police are examining whether these platforms are using the promise of leaked papers to conduct illegal data-harvesting operations by collecting personal information like phone numbers and credit card details. State Police Chief Ravada A. Chandrasekhar is reviewing the case, with potential inquiries into whether teachers were involved in the racket. Authorities may register cases under the IT Act and the Public Examinations Act, which carry penalties of up to ten years in prison.
