Kerala Police Reunite Missing Nagpur Engineer With Family After Four Years
· India · Indian Express, The Hindu, The Korea Herald
Kerala Police reunited 37-year-old Rashtrapal Manohar Chahandae with his family in Kochi after he spent four years wandering the streets of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. A postgraduate in engineering who previously worked for Mahindra and Mahindra in Mumbai, Chahandae slipped into depression following the deaths of his parents and the marriages of his sisters. He left home in 2022 and eventually reached Kochi in July, where he relied on charity for food and lived in an abandoned building. Police officers at the Mulavukadu station noticed him visiting a water kiosk regularly and gradually gained his trust through daily conversations. Authorities arranged a psychiatric consultation, and police subsequently contacted his family in Nagpur, leading to a reunion at the Kochi police station on Monday with his sister, brother-in-law, and aunt.
