Kerala’s Adavi Eco-Tourism Centre Adds 24 Coracles for Onam Rush

The Adavi eco-tourism centre in Pathanamthitta, Kerala, has acquired 24 new coracles to manage an expected increase in visitors during the upcoming Onam holiday season. Boatmen are currently applying a protective rain guard compound to the new vessels before they are put into service. The centre, managed by the Elimullumplackal Vana Samrakshana Samithi, plans to deploy the boats after the Thiruvonam break. Each coracle ride costs ₹600 and can accommodate four adults and one child. Revenue from these rides supports the Forest Department’s ecosystem management fund for local conservation efforts.
