Police in Alappuzha, Kerala, have arrested a minor girl and three teenage friends for the murder of her 65-year-old grandfather. Investigators found that the girl plotted the killing to steal six sovereigns of gold ornaments so she could buy an iPhone for herself and a bike for her boyfriend. The victim was found dead at his rented house with his hands and legs tied and a rope tightened around his neck. The three teenage suspects travelled by train from Kollam to commit the crime and recorded video visuals of the murder, which they shared with the girl. Police noticed the teenager's impassive demeanor after the discovery of the body and uncovered the conspiracy after examining her mobile phone.
