Keralam Where Is Your Humanity Doctor Questions Recurrence Of Mob Lynchings
· India · The Hindu, Hindustan Times
Forensic surgeon Hithesh Sanker has publicly questioned Keralam's social progress following the recent mob lynching of an unidentified man near Moolathara Dam in Chittur, Palakkad. Dr. Sanker noted that the victim, who reportedly suffered from mental health issues, bore multiple internal and external injuries from the assault. Having previously conducted the post-mortem for 31-year-old Chhattisgarh migrant worker Ram Narayan Baghel who was lynched in Walayar in December 2025, the surgeon expressed deep anguish over repeating patterns of brutality. He emphasized that mental health struggles do not strip individuals of their fundamental right to life, dignity, and protection. The doctor also referenced the infamous lynching of tribal youth Madhu in Attappady to question how such violence persists in a state known for high literacy rates.
Why it matters
The surgeon's public critique brings renewed scrutiny to accountability, social attitudes toward vulnerable populations, and the enforcement of the rule of law in Keralam.
