· World · Times of India, NDTV, BBC News
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has appeared in official photographs inspecting footwear and clothing at an exhibition, countering unverified online claims that he had suffered a fatal brain haemorrhage and been succeeded by his sister. The images were published by the state-run Korean Central News Agency on Monday following days of intense social media speculation regarding his health and succession. The unverified claims had been amplified by US-based Chinese dissident Wanjun Xie on X, who alleged that Kim had died and that his sister, Kim Yo Jong, had assumed control and increased military posturing towards South Korea. However, the newly released photographs have not been independently authenticated, and the exact date they were captured remains unclear.
