Kolkata Police Orders Saffron Uniforms for Puja Volunteers

The Kolkata Police has initiated a tender worth Rs 89 lakh to provide saffron-colored T-shirts and caps to 20,000 crowd-management volunteers for the upcoming Durga Puja. The force is transitioning from its traditional white-and-blue aesthetic to a high-visibility orange palette to improve identification in dense crowds. The volunteers, including NCC cadets and students, will be deployed between Tritiya and Dashami to manage traffic and pedestrian flow. Senior officers stated that the color change is an operational strategy to help citizens and motorists spot support personnel more easily. The bidding process for the tender is scheduled to conclude on September 30.
