Krunal Pandya Reacts After Missing Out on India T20I Squad
· Sports · Times of India, NDTV Sports
All-rounder Krunal Pandya shared a social media message stating that hope remains alive after he was left out of India's squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. The 35-year-old left-arm spinner was evaluated by selectors following an impressive IPL 2026 campaign where he picked up 14 wickets for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Krunal last represented India during the 2021 T20I series against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, pace spearhead Jasprith Bumrah returned to the squad subject to fitness clearance after recovering from a knee injury sustained in England. Afghanistan will host India for the three T20Is in New Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 13, 15, and 17.
Why it matters
Krunal Pandya's exclusion signals that selectors continue to prioritize younger alternatives in the spin department despite his strong domestic form, leaving his international career in balance.
