· Sports · ESPNCricinfo, Times of India, Indian Express
Wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra has been named as the replacement for Rishabh Pant for the first two four-day matches against New Zealand A. Pant continues his recovery from a left side strain sustained during recent fixtures. Team management has left open the possibility of Pant featuring in the third unofficial Test depending on his rehabilitation progress. The series forms part of New Zealand A's ongoing tour, providing red-ball exposure for emerging Indian talent. Selectors have not yet announced any further changes to the squad.
Why it matters
The change gives Kushagra an opportunity to secure his place in the red-ball setup while Pant focuses on full fitness ahead of senior national team assignments.
