Kush Maini Wraps Two-Day F1 Test With BWT Alpine At Red Bull Ring

· Sports · Sportstar, NDTV Sports

Indian racing driver Kush Maini completed a two-day F1 test with the BWT Alpine F1 Team at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, covering roughly 200 laps and 850 kilometres across the programme. On the opening day he drove a Testing Previous Car (TPC) through mixed conditions, completing 82 laps on wet, intermediate, and soft tyres as a wet morning gave way to a drier evening. He moved to the 2025-spec car on day two, running over 500 kilometres in dry conditions in the same specification he tested at the official Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi in December. The test was part of Alpine Academy's young driver testing programme, which Maini participates in throughout the year. He currently sits sixth in the FIA Formula 2 drivers' standings after two podium finishes in his last three races, putting him within reach of the best-ever F2 finish by an Indian driver, and will return to action at Monza next.

Why it matters

Maini is one of India's leading hopes of reaching a full F1 seat, and sustained mileage in Alpine's current machinery — alongside a strong F2 campaign — strengthens his case for promotion and would mark a historic breakthrough for Indian motorsport if converted into a race drive.
