A massive landslide at Bhattar in Nepal’s Api Himal Rural Municipality has partially blocked the Chaulani River, triggering flood alerts for downstream communities. Local authorities in Darchula district have warned that further debris could fully obstruct the river, potentially causing a sudden breach and flash floods. While the river is currently flowing at a normal level, security personnel have been deployed to monitor the site and assist residents. Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Khagraj Bhatta has directed local agencies to maintain a high state of alert. The Chaulani River eventually joins the Mahakali River, which serves as a border between Nepal and India.
