Lawyers in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district boycotted court work on Tuesday after police personnel allegedly stopped and searched the vehicle of an Additional Sessions Judge at a checkpoint in Kallar. According to the protesting Bar Association, the officer removed the vehicle's key and behaved disrespectfully despite the judicial officer disclosing his identity. Wearing black bands as a mark of protest, the lawyers demanded a fair, impartial, and time-bound inquiry into the incident along with action against the responsible police officials. Bar associations in Surankote and Mendhar extended support to the strike, submitting a joint resolution to the Lieutenant Governor. The legal body warned of extending the protest if authorities fail to take concrete action.
