Legendary Film Director and Writer Singeetham Srinivasa Rao Dies at 94

Veteran cinema director and writer Singeetham Srinivasa Rao passed away on Saturday evening at Kaveri Hospital in Chennai at the age of 94. Born in Gudur in the Nellore district, he began his career as a dialogue writer for filmmaker K.V. Reddy and assisted on the 1957 Telugu film Mayabazar. He made his directorial debut in 1972 with the Telugu film Neeti Nijayati and went on to direct landmark multi-lingual films including Pushpak Vimana, Mayuri, and Aditya 369. His final work, the musical fantasy comedy Sing Geetham, was released in June 2026. Family and friends confirmed his death in Chennai.
