Lohagad Fort murder: Lover's friend becomes third arrest, was involved in planning, say cops
· India · Hindustan Times, Zee News
Pune Rural police have arrested Ritesh Hange, a 22-year-old friend of Chetan Choudhary, as the third accused in the murder of realtor Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Hange, a Beed resident working in Pune, was remanded in custody until September 12 after police found mobile chats proving his involvement in planning the crime. Investigators say Hange knew of the earlier plan to injure Agarwal before allegedly pushing him off the cliff. Choudhary and Siya Goyal’s friend, Goyal (20), were previously arrested for the murder. The case remains under investigation with no further details on motives or additional suspects.
Why it matters
The arrests signal a deepening investigation into the premeditated murder of Agarwal, raising concerns for Pune’s safety and legal consequences for the accused. The case also highlights systemic failures in trust and security at popular tourist destinations like Lohagad Fort, where such crimes can erode public confidence.
