LPG refill booking interval set at 25 days for rural and urban-users alike
· Business · The Hindu, Times of India
The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has directed state-run oil marketing companies to implement a uniform 25-day inter-refill booking interval for domestic LPG consumers. This replaces the previous differentiated system where rural areas had a 45-day gap while urban areas had 25 days. These measures were introduced in February 2026 to manage supply pressure during the conflict in West Asia. Minister Suresh Gopi stated the change follows a considerable reduction in refill backlogs. The order applies to'L, BPCL, and HPCL.
Why it matters
This provides rural households with more frequent access to cooking gas, ending temporary demand-management restrictions imposed by global supply chain disruptions.
