The Supreme Court has recorded that the Madhya Pradesh government has yet to grant the required sanction to prosecute Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah. The Minister faces accusations of making derogatory remarks about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, an Army officer who briefed the media during 'Operation Sindhoor'. During a hearing on Monday, the State's DIG Intelligence informed a three-judge Bench that the investigation is complete, but the file is currently awaiting a decision at the gubernatorial level. The request for prosecution sanction was initially submitted to the state government in August 2025. While the state previously argued that the Minister intended to praise the officer, the Supreme Court has described his conduct as unfortunate and directed the state to comply with its January 19 order regarding the sanction.
