Khategaon police station in-charge Dilip Puri was killed after being run over by a truck transporting illicit liquor in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district. The 2007-batch Sub-Inspector was leading an operation on the Harda-Nemawar highway to intercept the vehicle following intelligence inputs. Police stated that a scuffle broke out after Puri asked the driver to step down, causing the officer to fall and come under the rear wheel as the driver attempted to flee. The truck was allegedly moving liquor from Harda to Gujarat via Indore. Authorities have arrested the driver and seized the vehicle as investigations continue into the wider smuggling network.
