Madhya Pradesh Re-launches Public Bus Service After Two Decades

The Madhya Pradesh government is set to relaunch a public bus service on September 25, 2026, ending a two-decade hiatus following the closure of the state transport corporation in 2005. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will launch the CM Sugam Transport Service, a public-private partnership aimed at building a fleet of 15,000 buses by 2031. The initial rollout will introduce 351 buses across seven cities, including 120 inter-city routes and local transit options. The network will be managed through an intelligent transport management system overseen by MP Passenger Transport Management Ltd and a central command facility. Private operators will provide the vehicles and generate additional revenue through advertising while connecting two-thirds of the state's gram panchayats.
