Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has dismissed any possibility of entering politics, citing his outspoken and forthright personality. Speaking at Business Today's India@100 event, the 2005-batch IAS officer stated that political requirements do not align with his direct approach. Appointed to the Maharashtra FDA post three months ago, Mundhe has gained widespread public attention for his aggressive crackdown on unhygienic practices across eateries and food shops in Mumbai and other parts of the state. Till July 31, his department conducted 3,000 inspections, seized goods worth Rs 55 crore, and suspended the licenses of 165 establishments. His strict administrative record includes being transferred approximately 25 times over a 21-year career.
